Jane Wyndham

Andy Blundell

Minister

Worship Director / Elder

Jane is the Minster here at Stock, she is married to our resident drummer Johnpaul, and together with their daughter Ruby they run a hairdressing Salon in Hornchurch. Jane loves to meet people from all walks of life and to introduce them to Jesus over a cuppa. She is also an avid Dr Martin Boot’s fan and you’ll spot her around the village by her red hair and DM’s!

Andy brings a wealth of musical and worship experience to our services and CCS events.

A former teacher, he leads our worship team with a heartfelt desire that every service and/or event becomes a space where all who attend encounter a tangible presence of God.

A devoted fan of  P. G. Wodehouse and strong coffee, Andy is an enthusiastic advocate of the "Campaign for Plain English".  When he's not leading worship, you’ll probably find him playing bass-guitar in his function band or growing marrows and tomatoes in his garden.

Nigel Davey

John Ward

Elder / Treasurer

Elder

Nigel is one of our long-standing elders and the steady hand behind the church finances. After a successful career as an accountant in the City, he and his wife Ruth settled in Stock, where they've been part of the community ever since. For over a decade, Nigel has faithfully served as an elder at Stock, bringing both wisdom and warmth to the role.

Outside the spreadsheets and church meetings, Nigel has a love for music and racquet sports — though his real claim to fame is being the undefeated table-tennis champion of the Rooted Youth Group (a title he defends with quiet and (seemingly!) effortless skill!).

Born in South Africa, John has lived in Stock with his wife, Anne, for over 30 years.

Previously a lawyer in central London, his recent retirement has allowed him to pursue long-held personal interests, including the establishment of a wildflower meadow within his garden and to enjoy increased opportunities to travel abroad, particularly to spend time with his grandchildren.

A lifelong enthusiast of surfing and water sports, John continues to engage actively in these pursuits, embracing a fulfilling and well-rounded retirement.

Penny Champion

Katy Smith

Deacon / Secretary / Safeguarding Trustee

Designated Person for Safeguarding / Rooted Youth

Penny brings her exceptional organisational skills to the heart of CCS, supporting the leadership team with calm efficiency and a keen eye for detail. Outside of work, she is a passionate craft enthusiast and is currently sewing two patchwork quilts—one as a wedding gift and another for the holiday home in Suffolk that she shares with her husband, Stephen. The pair love spending time by the coast and enjoying meals at their favourite pub in nearby Halesworth.

A dedicated midwife educator, Penny is also a proud mother of two grown daughters. She prefers to think of herself as a ‘bird launcher’ rather than an ‘empty nester’!

Katy has been part of Christ Church for as long as she can remember!

She can usually be found immersed in one of her many craft projects, endeavouring to complete all the 'half-finished' ones she has 'hidden' away!

A  registered paediatric nurse, Katy brings all her expertise and compassion to her role as our Designated Person for Safeguarding.

Together with her husband, Nathan, she oversees the youth work at CCS. They both have a passion for helping young people get to know Jesus in fun ways.

Nicki Blundell

Nathan Smith

Alternative Services / Deacon / Holiday Bible Club

Rooted Youth

Nicki keeps herself busy making our church more homely and running all our Alternative Services and Holiday Clubs. She has a passion for fun and will always have a flask of tea at the ready!  Nicki is also part of our church band playing the bass and whatever other instruments are available! Nicki is married to Andy and they have three grown up girls together. Nicki’s career journey outside the church has been quite an adventure, taking her from nursing to social care to her current job at a local primary school.

Nathan first joined Christ Church, when he met his wife, Katy in 2015. Together they oversee the youth here at Stock. During working hours, Nathan is a Maritime Civil Engineer - so if you ever need a bridge or pontoon, Nathan's your guy!  He spends most his free time on DIY projects with any spare bit of wood or being dragged around a garden centre by Katy!
Currently, Nathan is working towards his Chartership with the Institute of Civil Engineering and is therefore taking a short break from his regular preaching, rest assured will be back in the new year! In the meantime, he will still be doing the occasional preach and continues to oversee the youth.

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at the Church (details here) for our Sunday Service starting at 10.30 am.  There is ample parking to the rear of the building.

When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team.

We serve tea, coffee and biscuits after the service. It is a great way to meet people, or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access, and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There are disabled toilets in the main foyer.

Our Service

The main service begins at 10.30am with a warm welcome from one of our team members. Then follows a time of sung worship, led by our band.  We then share news and notices, usually about what’s going on in the life of the church. One of our leaders will then give a sermon that is bible based and that we can apply to our everyday life. We then finish with a final worship song. Sometimes there is an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service.

What about my kids?

Children stay with their parent or grown-up. Our services always include various activities to occupy any children.

Getting Connected

Small Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, some afternoons and some evenings. Check out Small Groups and see if there’s one that you could join, or we can put you in touch with a small group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.

Serving and Volunteering

If you want to get involved in the life of the church and help us make Sundays run smoothly, you can sign up to serve on a team.
