Christ church has strong personal connections with, and supports financially, organisations outside the immediate church work in the village. In particular:

  • The Evangelical Alliance - bringing Christians together and helping them listen to, and be heard by, the government, media and society.
  • The Bible in Literacy - one of our members, Shirley Gowland, is the driving force behind The Bible in Literacy which aims to get the Bible read in schools by preparing material which has the aim of teaching literacy but by reference to Bible narratives.
  • Arise and Shine Children's Home, Kenya - two of our members run, principally from the UK but with frequent visits to Kenya, the Arise and Shine Children’s Home in Kenya which provides a home and education for up to 35 children who would otherwise be living on the streets.
  • The church also supports Richard and Sue Gravina, who were members of the church youth group many years ago but have worked for Wycliffe Bible Translators for many years.
  • Pete Ward has a passion for sports based ministry, after spending time with Ambassadors in Sport in South Africa he is now serving as “Young People’s Ministry Leader” at OASIS church in Durban, SA. He is married to Kierra who is Programs Manager at Seed of Hope community development project in Durban
